Do you know what a “Synergista” is?
Last time we talked about why Synergy should be one of your favorite words. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, here it is again. Someone who really gets that message can be called a “Synergista.”
See, a Fashionista is someone who designs, models, or markets high-fashion clothing. Even if you’re just a “cool cat” who’s always stepping out looking your best, you could be called a fashionista!
And if you’re someone who knows the power of teamwork, you’re a “Synergista”!
What Difference Does It Make?
Really, though, what difference does it make?
Have you ever said, “By the time I show you how to do it, I could have done it already”? Many feel that way and they feel it serves them well. We make enough of our own mistakes, why waste time fixing other folk’s?
Or how about this one, “I’ve already got enough on my plate, you want me to add training to it also?” It seems like more work and often, without any more pay. That sounds like a classic “lose/lose” scenario!
These are just a couple of reasons why many of us feel like just keeping our heads down and doing our job. Can you think of any more reasons? I’d love to hear from you!
So, really, what difference does teamwork, or synergy, make?
Here’s the Difference!
Let me tell you about a few of my friends, names have been changed. 😊
Mary is a busy Office Manager. She used to work long hours and pull her hair out at work. Now she regularly wins awards for efficiency and completion. Why?
Bob was a busy dad who wanted to spend time with his kids but could never find the time. He felt like a stranger in his own home sometimes, but not anymore. What happened?
Susie used to spend all her time at school, her part-time job, or studying. She had no time for a social life. What’s changed?
You guessed it! All three of these folks are “Synergistas” now! They all know the power of cooperation.
Here are 3 More Easy Ways You Can Live Like a "Synergista"
I lead by example and inspire others to share my visions and join my parade.
I enthusiastically look for other people to help me improve or complete my projects.
I prepare for and participate in meetings to ensure they produce maximum results.
Let’s examine them one at a time
I prepare for and participate in meetings to ensure they produce maximum results.
A meeting can either be valuable and highly productive or a complete waste of time. It all depends on the attitude and the preparation of everyone in the meeting.
Busy Mary learned this lesson. She holds everyone accountable and gets things done. Not only are meetings fewer and shorter, but much more effective.
The key to a successful meeting is a highly focused agenda, advanced preparation, and a skilled moderator.
"Neither can the wave that has passed by be recalled, nor the hour which has passed return again." ~ Ovid
I lead by example and inspire others to share my visions and join my parade
Whatever the cause, you'll never attract anyone else if it doesn't inspire you first.
To be an effective leader, you must learn how to share your vision. And you want to share it with others in a way that helps them commit wholeheartedly to the same dream. Inspire others and there's nothing you can't do!
That’s what Bob did. By clearly showing his family that they came first, everything else fell into place. Now there is both quality and quantity time!
Lead by example, share the dream, commit to the cost, and keep hope alive.
"Skill in the art of communication is crucial to a leader's success. He can accomplish nothing unless he can communicate effectively." ~ Norman Allen
I enthusiastically look for other people to help me improve or complete my projects.
There are many people who are ready, willing, and able to help you reach your goals
All you have to do is ask! All they need is your vision, direction, and appreciation. Stop trying to be an army of one!
That’s what young Susie did. By discussing her schedule with teachers, family, and friends, she found she could be more organized. Now she has time for all the necessary things, including recreation.
You'll be surprised at how much easier it is to get things done with the assistance of the right people. You'll get more done, the results will be better, and you'll have more fun in the process.
"Successful people are successful because they form the habits of doing those things that failures don't like to do." ~ Albert Gray
